The City of Spring Branch issues one kind of permit: a sign permit. This page explains who needs one, how to apply, and what to expect.

First, are you inside the city limits?

Spring Branch shares the 78070 ZIP code with a large surrounding area that is not part of the city. Many addresses look like Spring Branch but fall outside the city limits, and if your property is outside the limits, a city sign permit does not apply to you.

Before anything else, check your location against the city limits map, which has a boundary map, an interactive map, and the legal metes-and-bounds description. If you are still unsure, email the city with your address and we will help you confirm.

What needs a permit

Signs within the city are regulated by the city’s Sign Ordinance. Review it to see what is allowed and what requires approval before you apply:

How to apply

1. Confirm your property is inside the city limits (above).
2. Complete the city’s sign permit application form. If you do not have it, email us and we will send it to you.
3. Email the completed form to info@cityofspringbranch.org.

There is no permit fee at this time.

What happens next

Your application is reviewed by the City Commissioners and voted on at the next City Commission meeting. If your timeline is urgent, the city can call a special meeting to decide sooner. Most applications are resolved within about two weeks, and no longer than four.
